Paul Rickard Music

Music production at affordable prices, let us turn your songs into professional productions

Since building my first proper electric guitar at 13 yrs of age, I’ve been wholeheartedly involved in all aspects of music ever since, as a singer-songwriter, musician, bandleader, producer/engineer, teacher and ‘virtuoso’ soloist.

I teach guitar, bass, drums and production and DAW based engineering in an informal but highly effective personalised system which I’ve developed myself over the years, focusing on playing songs/pieces & plenty of improvisation from the start and through to super advanced levels of creative musicianship and songwriting if required. But the main thing is keeping it fun all the way!

My long-running band Flytrap which I run with my partner, and world class vocalist Donna, is still going strong after 30 years – writing, recording our own original songs and gigging in and around Surrey.
Flytrap is a top notch, original, good-time groove based band playing a mix of Soul, rock, jazz and funk, original songs as well as classic covers.

Mummy … Look What I Just Trod In!’ is the exciting debut EP release from indie singer songwriter Neil Avery on Pink Deer Records . Five years in the making was not as a result of lack of material but other stuff kind of got in the way. Avery combines tuneful melodies with often thought provoking and honest lyrics centred around his own life experiences.

His much loved Rickenbacker guitar gives a jangly edge to his distinctive style with multi layered tracks and harmonised vocals with a warm texture. Engineer and Producer Paul Rickard has been a key influence on the sound, arrangements and direction. Listeners will hear more than a hint of Neil’s musical influences from the likes of The Smiths, Edwin Collins (Orange Juice) The Chesterfields, Teenage Fanclub, The Beatles and Billy Bragg. Please enjoy listening to it as Avery did making it.. and as the final track says, ‘When it all breaks down, you just need a friend, Its all that counts, in the end’

released August 18, 2020

I am totally Indebted to – Paul Rickard – a very patient man who has taught me everything and continues to be a huge influence and great friend. Donna for your amazing vocals on Follow You and Thats How I See You. My long suffering family – and neighbours – both of whom pleaded with me to turn the volume down……..
